History of Frybread: White flour was first distributed to the Native Americans as a part of their food rations. For the Navajo Tribe it was introduced just prior to the time of their four-year imprisonment by the United States Government in eastern New Mexico. Unsure of what to do with this new food substance, they began to observe the Anglo’s dropping the dough into hot grease. Flour became one of the Navajo’s most dependable rations throughout those early years of imprisonment and continues to be distributed today as government commodity food.

Ingredients: Enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin), salt, baking powder (corn starch, bicarbonate of soda, sodium aluminum sulfate, acid phos-phate of calcium).

Contains: Wheat.

Just add water. Instructions included. Manufactured in Gallup, NM 87301.
